Nature Of Duties:
ENTITY: American Centrifuge Program DEPARTMENT: Technical Services LOCATION: Piketon, OH POSITION: Mechanical Engineer
Performs the design, layout, analysis, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems. Specifies system components and directs modification of systems to ensure conformance with engineering design requirements and performance specifications. Oversees installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment to ensure that it is installed and functioning according to specification. Conducts engineering studies and may assign work to technical drafting staff as necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs moderate design tasks, prepares portions of project documents, performs research and investigations
Incumbent will have experience, knowledge and skills in Mechanical Engineering discipline; is responsible for all phases of assigned standard engineering projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at an appropriate cost
Prepares or secures and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information and writes appropriation requests
Performs engineering design evaluations
Prepare a variety of written summaries, informal reports and progress reports on work
May assist Senior or Principal Engineer on projects and tasks
Participate in Safety and Quality Assurance activities by serving on teams, special projects, attendance at meetings, training sessions, special assignments, etc.
Originates formal project requests
Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Requires the use of advanced techniques, and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in the Mechanical engineering field and related sciences and disciplines

Required Qualifications:
Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance. Minimum Education
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent related experience. Minimum Experience
• Two to five (2-5) years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
