Nature Of Duties:
ENTITY: American Centrifuge Program
DEPARTMENT: Technical Services
LOCATION: Piketon, OH
POSITION: Civil/Structural Engineer
Responsible for civil/structural design and analysis (including seismic), utilizing governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, and experience. Performs inspections to monitor progress and ensure conformance to applicable requirements. Estimates quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility. Provides technical advice regarding design, construction, modifications and structural repairs.
Performs moderate design tasks, prepares portions of project documents, performs research and investigations
Incumbent will have experience, knowledge and skills in Civil/Structural Engineering discipline; is responsible for all phases of assigned standard engineering projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at an appropriate cost
Prepares or secures and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information and writes appropriation requests
Performs engineering design evaluations
Prepare a variety of written summaries, informal reports and progress reports on work
May assist Senior or Principal Engineer on projects and tasks
Participate in Safety and Quality Assurance activities by serving on teams, special projects, attendance at meetings, training sessions, special assignments, etc.
Originates formal project requests
Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Requires the use of advanced techniques, and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in the Civil/Structural engineering field and related sciences and disciplines

Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent related experience.
• Two to five (2-5) years’ experience in Civil/Structural Engineering discipline.

Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.”
