Nature Of Duties:
ENTITY: American Centrifuge Program DEPARTMENT: Operations LOCATION: Piketon, OH POSITION: Operations Shift Supervisor
As the senior manager on shift in the Lead Cascade Facility, the Operations Shift Supervisor represents the General Manager, American Centrifuge Plant Operations and has the authority and responsibility to make decisions, as necessary, to ensure safe operations. The Operations Shift Supervisors are responsible for accumulation and dissemination of information regarding plant activities to the Incident Commander during emergencies. The Operations Shift Supervisors are also responsible for directing the operation of systems within the facilities necessary to support enrichment operation. The Operations Shift Supervisors authorize the restart of equipment that has been shutdown in a routine fashion when the prerequisites and limitations of the associated operating procedure are met. The Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing operational support of centrifuge machine assembly, transport, installation, pump down, integrated system testing, start-up, operation and select repair. The Operations Shift Supervisors also direct the operation of systems with the Lead Cascade facilities, necessary to support the Lead Cascade operation.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assigns, schedules, and instructs personnel in equipment monitoring, data collection and operation of centrifuges and supporting systems in accordance with approved procedures
• Monitors work of assigned areas for compliance with procedures, and directs operations using approved procedures or test plans under normal, off-normal and emergency response conditions
• Ensures all activities are clearly documented and maintains a narrative log of shift activities and operational evolutions
• Issues work permits as required
• Ensures qualified personnel are available to complete assigned work
• Performs integrated system testing and execution of test plans and coordinates work activities with other groups (service and construction)
• Instructs employees in the operating and test procedures, safety, environmental, Quality Assurance, and security-related matters
• Accountable for materials, parts and supplies under their jurisdiction
• Performs Change Evaluations and reviews as needed
• Responsible for safe and efficient work area and work practices
• Performs routine walk-through inspections of assigned areas and documents and provides resolution for identified deficiencies
• Directs operation of Lead Cascade computerized instrumentation and control systems
• Assists in the development and validation of test plans, procedures and training material
• Develops, reviews, and validates administrative, procedural, and technical documents. i.e. schematics, operating procedures, process control narratives, statement of work, system requirement documents, failure mode evaluation analysis, technical manual review, design criteria
• Ensures the workforce includes and is conducive to the participation of individuals with diverse ethnic backgrounds, both genders, including those with and without disabilities
• Enforces and adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security and environmental and safety program requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance. Minimum Education • Associate of Science in Engineering, Physical Sciences or equivalent technical experience, with a high school diploma or GED or; Successful completion of the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program • Must be able to successfully complete the USEC Inc. Operations Supervisor Qualification Standards and job specific training program Minimum Experience • Within the past eight (8) years, must have three (3) years of process operator experience in the chemical, nuclear, power generation, or pharmaceutical industries or US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program • One (1) year supervisory experience
