Nature Of Duties:
Cable/Phone Field Technician – Piketon, Ohio
Overview:
The Field Technician will report directly to the Senior Field Technician on-site. This position works with the Senior Field Technician to install, service, and repair telephones and other communications equipment. This position is based on the customer site in Piketon, Ohio.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
-Minimum two (2) years of work experience with various communication systems and cable installations.
-Familiarity with basic communications equipment
-Knowledge of color code inside and outside cables
-Skilled in using splicing and termination hand tools
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Job Responsibilities:
Primary role is to service and repair telephones and other communication equipment on-site for one full-time customer. May install equipment in new locations or install wiring and telephone jacks in locations under construction. Assists Senior Field Technician engaged in installation and repair of wire equipment. Must be familiar with basic communications equipment and cable installations, including lacing, wire wrapping, fanning, and forming, cable terminations, including DB, AMP coax, splicing multi-pair copper, and fiber installations. Terminate and test varied unshielded twisted pair cable, to RJ-45 modular connectors, 66-type blocks, 110-type blocks and Amphenol plugs. Must be knowledgeable in the color code inside and outside of cables and the placement of category 3, 5, 5E, 6 gigabit and plenum cables. Knowledgeable in lightning protection techniques for inside and outside cables, includes carbon, fuses, gas and diodes. Connect modular patch cord and pin out, connectivity of modular jacks T-568A, T-568B and USOC pin mapping. Skilled in the use of splicing and termination hand tools, including crimpers, punch-down, and strippers. Install MDF, patch panels, and demarcation blocks, cross-connection, residential and commercial wiring applications. Troubleshoot AC and DC cable wiring fault, split pair, open pair, crossed pair, reversed pair, short pair and transposed pairs. Other duties as assigned.
