Nature Of Duties:
PN: 20063420 Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Bargaining-Unit Location: Trumbull County Promotional Bid: classified position (may include promotion, transfer or demotion) Job Location: 3424 US Route 422, Southington, OH 44470 Division: Ohio State Highway Patrol Pay Range: 28 Hours of work: Hours May Vary Salary: $34,008.00 - $41,350.40 Annually $16.35 - $19.88 Hourly
Operates portable scales at selected rotating sites. Operates portable scale van. Weighs & inspects self-propelled construction equipment, commercial vehicles &/or loads relative to legal limitations & special hauling permit limitations. Assists with the inspection of vehicles for safety violations & registration. Checks weigh sites for compliance. Maintains records of special hauling permit loads & all violations. Operates radio to contact patrol post for assistance. Answers inquiries from the general public regarding information & directions. May appear in court as a witness relative to overload citations. Fills in at stationary scales as needed. Maintains all equipment in a clean & safe condition. Performs other related duties as directed by immediate supervisor.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to vehicles leaking hazardous materials or on fire & animal wastes; may work outside exposed to weather; exposed to traffic noise & gasoline fumes; requires travel when operating portable scales; may be required to work evenings; may be required to crawl under vehicles; exposed to moving traffic while placing signs & cones to designate selected weigh site & during inspections; may be exposed to unsecure loads during inspections.
Required Qualifications:
Formal education that includes reading, writing & speaking English & in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. -OR equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
