Salary: $45,281.60 - $66,268.80 Annually $21.77 - $31.86 Hourly

Under direction of the Statistical Analysis Unit {SAU} supervisor, conducts complex analyses of GIS data. Operates GIS software (Geomedia) to produce &/or revise maps related to highway crash statistics & Patrol enforcement activities. Designs & implements, with the guidance of research staff, research & evaluation studies that involve the creation of GIS maps &/or the data used in the creation of maps. Uses macro-language programming &/or SQL (Structured Query Language) for GIS operations. Coordinates applications design & final products based on user needs. Assists & educates users regarding GIS technology &/or the opportunities GIS technology affords to resolve resource management issues. Ensures that GIS operations adhere to applicable standards for data capture, data manipulations & output (e.g., systematically organizes files on server & maintains data integrity). Works with other agencies to develop & maintain necessary data management systems related to GIS. Transforms final products to storage media & creates data reports to include meta-data. Writes formal reports which describe mapping results. Prepares & delivers presentations related to the Divisions mapping capabilities & the results of data analyses using mapping technology. Performs other duties as assigned by the Special Projects & Events supervisor (e.g., assists other Section staff with research & evaluation projects relating to the Division’s goals & objectives; performs miscellaneous clerical tasks; attends applicable training).

Required Qualifications: Completion of graduate core program in geography, natural resources, engineering, planning, computer science, biology, geology, ecology or related field to include course work in geographic information systems (e.g., applications in geographic information systems, data input operations in geographic information & creation of digital spatial data bases); 12 mos. exp. or 12 mos. trg. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operation of geographic information systems. -OR completion of undergraduate core program in geography, natural resources, engineering, planning, computer science, biology, geology, ecology or related field to include course work in geographic information systems (e.g., applications in geographic information systems; design & implementation of geographic information; creation of digital spatial data bases; data input operations in geographic information); 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems. -OR 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in coordination of operations of geographical information systems to include data input operations, creation of digital spatial data bases, design & implementation of geographic information & applications design & use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operation of geographic information systems. -OR 12 mos. exp. as GIMS Specialist 1, 85771. -OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
