Job Code/Job Title: LPP-2010-500 Sr. Fire Protection Engineer Position
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Safety/IH Manager the Fire Protection Engineer manages the fire protection program in accordance with DOE Order 420.1B, Facility Safety and ensures compliance with both federal safety and code compliance criterion as related to fire protection, prevention, and engineering.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages the Fire Protection Program for Lata/Parallax, LLC
• Prepares written analysis and assessments as per program requirements and for special needs
• Prepares documentation to support projects and new scopes of work to ensure compliance with contract requirement documents.
• Coordinates all of LPP Fire Protection activities and interests with the USEC Fire Service Group.
• Maintains appropriate documentation to support fire protection projects and activities.
• Performs combustible loading inspections and prepares monthly reports
• Oversees fire protection concerns for all major field projects and activities by reviewing all activity hazard analysis, work packages, and performing routine surveillances of projects.
• Prepares Fire Hazards Analysis for all LPP facilities as per the FHA application matrix. Performs routine updates every three years or as required due to facility or mission changes.
• Prepares Transitional Fire Hazard Analysis for facilities undergoing decontamination and demolition.
• Provides technical assistance and advisory services to management and other technical groups on fire protection and prevention requirements.
• Prepares Requests for Proposals for specialized fire protection services.
• Prepares fire protection system specifications to support project needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum five years in an industrial/safety environment with at least 2 years experience with DOE Fire Protection
• BS/BA degree preferred, or equivalent related experience.
• Detailed knowledge of regulations pertaining to DOE Orders, NFPA Codes and Standards and OSHA.
• DOE “L” clearance or ability to obtain a DOE “L” clearance.
