Nature Of Duties:
Local company is seeking to fill the following position:
Position: Controller
Reports To: Owner
Direct Reports: Accounting Clerk / Office Manager
Location: South-Central Ohio – between Columbus and Cincinnati
Travel: None
Hours: Full-time
Major Function: Responsible for the overall operations of accounting functions and controls including customer billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory costing. Also responsible for month-end and year-end closings and annual budget preparation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure operation of an appropriate overall accounting control system as approved by the Owner.
2. Maintain an appropriate cost accounting system for inventory valuation and product profitability analysis. Ensure maintenance of accurate inventory records and conduct monthly physical counts.
3. Ensure that customer invoices are prepared on a daily basis
4. Issue customer credits.
5. Credit and Collections – review delinquent accounts and work with Owner on collection issue resolutions. Monitor accounts receivable aging. Review new customers and establish appropriate credit limits subject to approval of Owner.
6. Ensure that Accounts Payable vouchers are properly matched to source documents and entered for payment in a timely manner.
7. Period-End Closings – in a defined closing process, prepare journal entries, reconcile all balance sheet accounts, and prepare monthly management reports and analyses.
8. Develop budget process and prepare annual budget.
9. Act as the primary interface with external auditors and assist in interfacing with financing sources.
10. Assist in the analysis of lease/buy decisions for capital projects, and coordinate execution of financing.
11. Prepare various analytical reports for management.
12. Handle special projects as assigned by the Owner.

Education:
Bachelors degree in Accounting preferred, or substantial experience.
Previous Work Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years in a manufacturing accounting environment.
Special Skills / Aptitudes:
Proficient in Peachtree Accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook. Ability to function as part of a management team.
